i have always enjoyed this image. coming back from point bonita light i noticed this female great blue heron standing on top of one of the cement structures. there were not many people around as it was a chilly, overcast day. i slowly worked my way towards her and while she was vigilant, did not scare and fly away. at one point she "struck this pose" and i was lucky enough to grab this shot. shortly thereafter, a larger group came up from the lighthouse path and noticed her as well. she was spooked by the large group, noise, and rapid approach.

a sandbar has appeared on our beach here. i liked the pattern it created so i waited until sunset yesterday evening to grab a long exposure which would illustrate the pattern without burning out the white water. i find it a very meditative image after pondering it for close to 24 hours. let me know what you think...

i didn't see a - repost photo/change photo option, ala flickr - so, sending a redux. lightroom is handy for making uber-quick changes such as these. my apologies to everyone for the snafu.
